A Lin Hydropower Project

This is the second largest hydropower project in the North Central area, it is expected to make active contribution to the course of construction and development of economy of Thua Thien Hue province in particular and the country in general.

The project is constructed at Alin river and Bo river system in Phong Xuan commune (Phong Dien district), Hong Trung and Hong Van communes (A Luoi district) with total capacity of 62MW consisting of two steps (step 1 with capacity of 42MW, step 2 with capacity of 20MW).

As expected, the project will provide an annual average production of over 268.49 million KWh for the national electric grid, as well as contribute to regulate flow discharge to supply domestic water and mitigate flood for downstream area.

Alin B1 hydropower project is located in Hong Trung, Hong Van communes, A Luoi and Phong Dien districts, Thua Thien Hue province, the project is owned by Truong Phu Hydropower Joint-stock Company in the term of Build-Own-Operation (BOO). The project was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the official document No. 6902/BCT-NL dated 17-07-2009 on adjustment and additional planning of small hydropower projects in Thua Thien Hue province.

Major task of A Lin B1 hydropower project: Generating with installed capacity of 42 MW, connecting to local electric grid with voltage of 110KV.

Design standard:

According to the Vietnamese standard TCXDVN 285:2002 “Hydraulic works - Major design regulations'', if A Lin B1 project consists of 1 plant with capacity N>50MW, it is classified as grade II work, its design standards area as follows:

- Design flood, P = 0.5%.
- Check flood, P = 0.1%.
- Power generation with firm frequency P = 90%.
- Construction flood, P = 5%, P = 10%.
If the project consists of 2 plants with capacity N<50MW, it is classified as grade II work, its design standards are as follows:

- Design flood, P = 1%.
- Check flood, P = 0.2%.
- Power generation with firm frequency P = 85%.
- Construction flood, P = 5%, P = 10%.
