Bac Ha Hydropower Project

Bac Ha Hydropower Project constructed on Chay river (which is the second cascade behind Thac Ba hydropower project) is the project under Vietnam power development programe, period 2001-2010 considering prospect by the year 2020 according to the decision No.40/2003 of Prime Minister.
- Reservoir storage capacity: 170 million m3
- Dam height: 75 m
- Dam crest length: 436 m
- Dam crest elevation: 183 m
- Installed capacity: 90 MW (2 units x 45 MW)
- Connecting to national grid: 370 million KWH annually.
- Total investment cost: approximately 1,850 billion VND
- Capital: own capital, loan from Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Development Bank.
- The project is invested by LICOGI Corporation in the form of Build - Operation - Own (BOO).
Several main items of the project have been constructed by LICOGI 14 as follows:
- Excavation, blasting and unloading soil and rock from pit of diversion intake with quantity of 1.2 million.
- Excavation, blasting and unloading soil and rock from consolidation of talus slope on left abutment of diversion canal with quantity of 700,000 m3.
- Excavation and construction of upstream and downstream cofferdams, berms along diversion intake with quantity of 85,000 m3.
- Treatment of plant foundation with rock and soil quantity of 200.000 m3.
- Construction of access road of hydropower plant with length of 16 km, in future, this road will be used for reservoir tourism.
- Construction of flooding avoidance road to dam abutment with length of 3.6 km.
- Production and crushing rock for concrete placement of diversion intake with quantity of 24,000 m3, crushing macadam for access road with quantity of 26,000 m3.
- Production and reserve of crushed stone for concrete placement of main dam with quantity of 600,000 m3.
