Scale and structure of project major works:
Gravity concrete dam, 332 m long, Hmax=37.5m; maximum bottom width: 31m.
The dam was designed with RCC technology and constructed with conventional concrete technology.
Spillway:
03 segment gates, dimension (10 x 6)m and 01 ungated span. Total discharge: 1030 m3/s.
Intake:Qdesign = 2.5 m3/s
Canal system:
Using the existing irrigation systems with irrigation area in left bank is 1815 ha served by Ca Tieu, Ma Ren systems. Irrigation area in right bank is 1185 ha served by Cha Vin-Kia, Da dam.
Tan Giang dam section was constructed of 02 layers of M200 concrete in upstream face and 02 layers of M150 concrete in downstream face. Intake face and inspection gallery are constructed of M200 reinforced concrete.
In Tan Giang area, climate is dry and hot all year round, average temperature is 27oC, highest temperature is 40.5oC. The construction of great quantity of concrete met many difficulties. Therefore, many studies were carried out to propose the optimal aggregate of concrete using reasonable admixtures to ensure quality of the project.
